The sampling season has started at the Belgian Princess Elisabeth Station!

Our Board Director Valentina Savaglia has left for Antarctica to kick-off the sampling season of her PhD project MICROBIAN. She and her colleagues are going to stay there (around the Sør Rondane Mountains) for a little bit less than a month. The aim is to sample the soils in ice-free areas in order to study the microbes living in these extreme polar environments. These guys are little, but very important! If you are interested you can follow their trip and sampling activities on their blog.

Good luck Valentina!
