Job opportunity at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (Data Science Officer – SW1)

AntaBIS seeks an enthusiastic data scientist to assist in the construction of a web-based Antarctic biodiversity virtual laboratory. This virtual laboratory will provide analytical software tools and workflows for researchers working with Antarctic biodiversity data. The virtual lab will link those tools to online data sources including AntaBIS and other national Antarctic data centers but also other partners within the EU Lifewatch programme ( The analytical tools will encompass processes such as data retrieval, validation and cleaning, integration (e.g. satellite-derived data with ground-based surveys), modelling (e.g. species and community distribution modelling, spatial analyses), data visualization and mapping, and publication of data products.
